Therapeutic Service for Looked After Children‘Looked after children’ have been identified nationally as a group of Infants, children and adolescents whose mental health needs are much greater than those of the general population.

MH Child & Family Psychology is dedicated to working in partnership with the Health and Education Authorities, Social Services, CAFCASS, Independent Foster Care Organisations, Residential Care Homes and other statutory and
non-statutory organisations to deliver effective support, assessment and therapeutic interventions for looked after children.

The therapeutic support services we offer looked after children, professionals and services are:

• Therapeutic Assessment and Support in Foster Care
• Therapeutic Assessment and Intervention in Residential Care
• Therapeutic Support for adopted children/parents
• Therapeutic Support for looked After Children in School
• Supervision and Consultation for Professionals & Carers
• Training Courses for Professionals and Carers
• Building Bonds Project: Supporting Parent-Infant attachment and Mental Health (See Building Bonds)

Each looked after child has their own needs and unique dynamics. All of the specialist services MH Child & Family Psychology offer looked-after children have the framework and model of ‘Attachment’ in mind. Services are delivered flexibly and according to each child’s identified attachment needs
